Good morning, Dear Reader, and welcome to 2024 – an 8 year of Abundance and Self-Empowerment!
Tomorrow’s January 11th New Moon rises at 6:57 am EST in the Earthly sign of Capricorn, the sign of “I Use,” of leveraging things at its disposal to achieve greatness in Life. What I personally love to do as a ritual every New Moon is set an intention – I Ask for something I want to grow during that 15 day interval between the New and Full Moons, so that it can potentially be “birthed” at the next Full Moon (or at some point thereafter).
Capricorn is the sign that has the ability to execute plans in a regimented and structured way, therefore if we wish to partake fully of its energy, it asks us to create a plan that will help us work steadily towards accomplishing long-term goals. For me, that “plan” is my monthly moon rituals. Capricorn is also the sign of logic, pragmatism, and responsibility – i.e. being “13 going on 30.” It’s a Cardinal sign, which means it can be stubborn, fixed and immovable in its nature. Its planet being Saturn-the-Disciplinarian, people born to the Capricorn sign often seem to determinedly (stubbornly?) follow Saturn’s 29 year cycle – accomplishing and achieving their goals by the time they’re 29, then wondering, “Now what?” as a new cycle begins.
This 29 year cycle is significant in many ways, not only if you’ve got Capricorn energy in your astrological chart. This is because as with numerology, where we have at our core the energy of ALL numbers, we also inherently have within us the energies of ALL astrological signs. One of those “many ways” this 29 year cycle shows up is when we near the ages of 29, 58, or 87 (or 116, if you’re lucky!). If your age is in any way close to these numbers, this is likely a time where you feel the need to “shake things up” or where things are being “shaken up” for you. Considering the rampant Capricorn energy around us, right now, it’s quite possible (even if you’re not 29, 58, or 87) that you’re asking yourself, “Now What?” As destabilizing as this may feel, what a great place loaded with possibilities that is to be standing in at this New Moon! Between Mercury moving direct, and the moon being in the early degrees of Capricorn, this not only means all of us are being given a new moon filled with the possibility of greatness and achievement, but we’re also being given the opportunity to “charge forward” and “climb mountains” with clarity, dynamism, and good fortune – that’s some majorly powerful energy to have at our disposal, and even moreso for those heading down a whole new “29 year” path!
Another aspect of Capricorn is that it is career-focussed. Now in the last few years I’ve come to experience the word “career” (a chosen pursuit, profession, or occupation) as a 4-letter word, so please allow me to propose that we substitute that 4-letter word with that of VOCATION (a calling by “God”/the Universe), and ponder, “How can this Capricorn season/Capricorn New Moon help us move forward with clarity, dynamism and good fortune in our Vocation, aka our calling in the World?”
As I may have mentioned before, this “calling” isn’t about your job, it’s about your passion – that thing you’d do no matter what, even if you weren’t paid for it. That thing you’d do all day every day if you didn’t need to make money. For some of you that may, in fact, be your “job” (which I’d then rename “vocation”), but for many that isn’t the case. This vocation will always have an “in service to others” bent (even if you make money at it – i.e. conscious business), and can be big or small, personal or cosmically/divinely focussed – that part is truly irrelevant because as we know, it’s the Butterfly Effect of what we put out into the Field that really matters, which is why it should always come from a place of Love & Passion.
In terms of numerology, Capricorn is associated with #1 – the number of our Root Chakra, of Beginnings, of our True-Self and who we “Be” in the World, of our Personal Identity, Personal Resources & Knowledge, and of our Leadership abilities – #1 is the Wayshower, as is Capricorn, because of it’s rooted consistency and determination: “I Am Stability” is the numerological mantra associated with #1 – how very fitting for the Capricorn “goat sign” sitting atop of a tree! How in h*ll did it get up there, and how is it able to stay up there!?!?
So with all of this Capricorn energy of achievement and greatness focussed all around us at this New Moon time, not to mention the 8 year of Abundance and Self-Empowerment we’re just now stepping into, what is the first Ask we want to put out into the Field?
For me, that would be the following: repeat the below sentence to yourself or out loud as often as you can over the next 24 hours: “Dear Universe, as I accept my own Personal Power, show me where my Greatness resides, so that I may walk this path with Grace and Ease, and Contribute that which I am meant to Gift to the World.”
Be sure to make note of signs that show up for you over the next 15 days. Writing them down in a journal or in a pad makes it more likely that you’ll be able to make connections to your Ask later on. And when you start to notice how many “coincidences” and “synchronicities” are taking place, I can assure you, you’ll start looking forward to each of your New Moon rituals!
In Light & Love,
Isabelle Monique
